Scientists are trying to get permission to spill 1,200 litres of oil into the Arctic Ocean in order to test new ways to clean up oil spills.

I'm no genius, but that sounds counterintuitive to me. If there is already enough oil in the Arctic Ocean to warrant a test like this, don't you think that oil would be the way they could test their new theories?

I might be totally wrong, but it does sound kind of funny that they need to put more oil in the water just to test ways to get oil out of the water that's already there.

According to a news article from the uk, hundreds of factory workers in China are being poisoned by mercury found in "green" lightbulbs that help save carbon dioxide emissions. I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little tired of all this "going green" stuff. I'm all for helping to clean up the environment and not be as wasteful, but it seems like people will do anything they can, no matter the cost, to make these "green" products.

Whoever invented this new green lightbulb is probably smart enough to know that mercury is very toxic and it should never be used in a common household item such as a lightbulb. They stoped using mercury in thermometers because of this exact reason. 

This is a big /facepalm for the whoever thought it was a good idea to put the environment over human lives.
