Let's spill more oil in the ocean to clean it

by vipergtsrz at 03:32 PM Share your /facepalm story

Scientists are trying to get permission to spill 1,200 litres of oil into the Arctic Ocean in order to test new ways to clean up oil spills.

I'm no genius, but that sounds counterintuitive to me. If there is already enough oil in the Arctic Ocean to warrant a test like this, don't you think that oil would be the way they could test their new theories?

I might be totally wrong, but it does sound kind of funny that they need to put more oil in the water just to test ways to get oil out of the water that's already there.

Son charges Mom for Harassment over Facebook

by vipergtsrz at 12:15 PM Share your /facepalm story

As facebook has become more popuplar than google, it also comes with some side-effects.

According to CBS News, a boy from Arkansas has charged his mom with harassment after she accessed his Facebook account and changed his password because she didn't like the things he was posting on there.

This kind of story is as old as the ages...Mom goes into kids room to "clean" it and "accidentally" finds their private diary. She learns all these things about her child she never knew or wanted to know and they argue about everything, blah blah blah.

I just want to know how awkward it will be for the mom and son to meet in court against each other. What is the son hoping to get our of filing charges against his mom?

Do you think the mom had a right to snoop in her kid's facebook account, or is that off limits?

Bank Robbery /facepalm

by vipergtsrz at 12:03 PM Share your /facepalm story

If you were to rob a bank, probably the most important thing you would care about is speed and efficiency. There are many ways to be speedy during a bank robbery, but one thing I would not recommend is calling ahead of time to make sure they have the money ready for you to steal.

These two would-be robbers in Connecticut called the bank ahead of time and told them to have the money ready for them to pick up for the robbery. There's really not too much to say about this one considering it's pretty obvious how dumb these two guys are. I can't believe they actually showed up.

Back in jail again over a $3.37 beer

by Admin at 01:56 PM Share your /facepalm story

This 19-year-old guy from Quebec got thrown back in jail for 60 days after stealing a $3.37 beer from a local store. The /facepalm in the story is that he was stealing the beer to celebrate getting out of jail that day. Why was he in jail, you ask? He was convicted of petty theft several times before this and was sentenced to 8 months prior to this event.

What I don't get is that the courts wanted to give him the lightest sentance they could, which was 60 days. If the guy just spent 8 months in jail and the first thing he does when he gets out is go and steal a beer, I don't think he learned his lesson. I'd lock him up for a couple years and see if he understands then.

Burglar gets what he desrves from Craigslist

by vipergtsrz at 12:41 PM Share your /facepalm story

According to the NY Post a burglar got caught by posting what he stole on Craig's List.

The victim had his tires and rims stolen from his car that was parked on the street overnight. Even though he was obviously bummed about it, he had to get new wheels. He went to Craig's List to find replacements and saw his wheels being sold by the guy who stole them.

He contacted the "seller" and the police and had everyone meet at the same location. He got his wheels back and the thief is now in jail.

It's not usual to get things back that are stolen like that, so this is a pretty sweet story. I love when the bad guy gets his comeuppance.
