Oops, I flew to the wrong continent

Check this story out.

Apparently a woman from Argentina ended up in Sydney, Canada, instead of Sydney, Australia. The article states that "The mix-up, due to inattention while booking flights online, became evident when she boarded a small propeller plane in Halifax that would take her on the last leg of her journey".  Since she likely booked the flight months ago, she probably talked with friends and/or relatives about it.  Obviously, the following conversation never occured:

Woman: I am very excited about my trip to Sydney, Australia!  It's the land down under!
Friend or relative:
That sounds like fun.  I bet it's a long flight, are you going to have a layover anywhere?
Woman:
Why yes, the itinerary that I dutifully printed out when I booked this flight online says it will be in Halifax.
Friend or relative:
Halifax?  That is quite a long way from Australia.
Woman:
Why, whatever do you mean?  Is Halifax not in Australia?
Friend or relative:
Goodness, no.  It is a good thing I am your friend or relative.  Look with me, I will show you the wonder of a map.  These devices can show you cities, countries, and other landmarks in the planet on which we live.  Do you understand?
Woman:
Barely, but thank you for setting me straight.  My misadventure could have potentially been scathingly blogged about on facepalm.com!  Phew!

There were probably about 6 million other chances for her to catch this mistake, but no, even as she lands in Halifax, she still doesn't catch on.  Perhaps she should have thought to herself, "Why did I fly due North instead of due West?".  That's just one example of a thought that should have crossed her mind if she had ever seen a map or compass before in her entire life.
