Can't find that quote anywhere in that link and I believe the quote actually states that if he were from the UNITED STATES he would be dead by now because his condition was "preexisting"

The follow up article, that this facepalm (conveniently) fails to point out documents the troubles Mr. Hawking had with the DHS before he became an "asset" (a famous scientist).

To summarize, Hawking's own father had to raise funds to get his son the care he needed, from diet, to nursing. None were originally given by the DHS.

I guess investigative journalism would come in handy for those running this website as well.

I'm not sure that facepalm.com is the site to go to for stories that have "investigative journalism" behind them. The link that's being referenced in this post comes from The Register (www.theregister.co.uk/.../) which is what it's making fun of.

--- Ummm... you're wrong. Stephen Hawking has ALS, and up until College, (Where he became a famous Scientist) he was able to walk, talk, and live life on his own. (No Chair, talkbox, etc.) Try reading a book once in a while.

I'm sure if he was an American HE'D BE LONG DEAD. A lot sooner W/O insurance but even with insurance, he would have maxed out his coverage and after he'd have spent every penny he had, he'd still be long dead.
Over 50% of Americans who file for bankruptcy do it for medical bills AND 80% of them had insurance. Americans deserve to die, for being so stupid that they buy the BS. American health care system is doing the world a favor, rejoice World.
