The kid is a dunce. Never let anyone know your passwords. If he's too ignorant autosave his passwords then not password-protect his facebook then he deserves what he got. fwiw, password protect your web browser too. yes, it can be done.

Privacy is privacy, all people are entitled to it.
You wouldn't want someone else nosing into your business,

to be honest , i think the mother had no right to do that , its his facebook so let him do what he want's , yeah i understand that she might be consernd about what he's doing on it , but instead of changing the password i would at least talk to my son about it , im only a kid , but i understand both sides of there sotry' s, also i think the kid went a little to far , he shouldn't have charged the mother with anything , just talk to her , he deffenetly went to far .

Absolutely the mom had a right. The child is a minor and what he does, she is responsible for. And he was the idiot who didn't protect his password...

On top of that, with the dangers on the internet today, moms are almost required to pry into their children's lives to keep them safe. Teens especially, are convinced they are immortal, and that nothing bad could happen. Think of how many children would be alive today if their parents paid more attention, like this one.

I think she had a right but she didn't you know. She needs to keep her kid safe, but at the same time, she locked him out, because she didn't like what he was saying on there. Really? I wouldn't take a parent to court over that, but it still is what it is. The invasion of privacy for a child on the internet is okay, punishing them because you don't like it, is wrong.

Her ass had no right. It's called privacy. There's a reason why the account has a password. The kid should have been smarter and not left the computer without logging out, but the mom still had no right to snoop around. Now I can't blame her at all. I've had friends leave their myspace and facebook accounts logged in at my house before which gave my curious mind the need to snoop around, but I admit I had no right to do so. Just because she is his parent doesn't mean she has the right.

The child has a right to remember to sign out of his account, and not to trust his mother ever again. The mother acted pretty irrationally, instead of talking with her son about the things she read. Apparently, she also posted slanderous things about him through his profile as well? I'm sorry, but I was under the impression that nobody - not even your parents - has the "right" to slander you.

While the parents are legally responsible for raising their child, the parent has the right to be as involved as they see fit in the child's life (unless a court of law determines otherwise). The Mother probably could have made better judgements, and if she made slanderous comments, she should be held responsible for those lies (although slander is spoken...if she posted lies on a facebook wall, the suit should be for libel). However, what about parents who refuse to let their child even have a facebook account? Can they be sued for harassment, as well? Nope, not unless the child is a legal adult.

While the child is not an adult, they have no privacy. If my kids were posting things on facebook that I didn't approve of or know about, then the following things would happen: Facebook account deleted. Computer turned into small pieces of plastic and circuit board. Child would be grounded until they remove their heads from their asses. Kids need to understand that it is the parent's job to protect their kids, even from themselves.
